What are the advantages?
Zircon crowns are superior to other metal-supported crowns. Since zircons are white in color and translucent, they transmit light. Since the light transmittance is closest to the natural tooth, they achieve the aesthetics of the natural tooth. This is not the case with metal-supported crowns. Zircons do not corrode so they do not leave discoloration or metallic taste in the mouth. Metal-supported crowns corrode in the mouth.
Are there any adverse effects?
Since zirconia crowns do not corrode, they do not cause any infection in the gingiva. If the patient pays attention to oral hygiene, they do not cause problems in the gums. Sometimes teeth that have had root canal treatment change color in the mouth. Zircon hides this coloration without losing its naturalness. In these cases, the discoloration is seen under the thin gingiva. In this case, it is not caused by the zircon crowns, but by the color change of the tooth itself.
Can it be applied to the implant?
Zircon ceramic crowns can be applied on the implants. They do not show any interaction with titanium, which is the material of the implant.
