What Should Families Be Considered Before the Test?

-Be careful that the child is not sick and tired before coming to the test.

-The child should be well rested and his stomach should be full.

-The child should have slept while coming to the test and should be on a normal day in terms of motivation. Comfortable clothes are recommended.

It is recommended to stay away from discourses and actions that will cause anxiety to the child. If the child knows that this is an intelligence test, he may experience anxiety and not be able to show his real performance. Words such as “test, intelligence test, exam” should not be used for the child; instead a study be said to be done. Anxiety-inducing words such as “Do well, do well, listen well” should not be used.

Why should WISC-IV be done instead of WISC-R?

WISC-4 is the updated version of WISC-R. New skill sets have been added to WISC-4, thus increasing the number of tests. Taking the WISC-4 intelligence test will provide families with a more comprehensive, up-to-date and good idea of ​​their child’s cognitive abilities. As the WISC-R norms are not up to date, it is no longer healthy and ethical to evaluate children with this test. Families; should ask whether the psychologist who will perform the test is a therapist who has received training from the Turkish Psychologists Association, and should not have the old version of the test available while the current version is available.
