What is Nasal Congestion?

Nasal congestion occurs when the nose and surrounding tissues, blood vessels, swell with excess fluid, causing a feeling of being “congested.” This condition may or may not be accompanied by a runny nose.

Nasal congestion can cause common ailments ranging from mild congestion problems during the day to sleep disturbances at night.

WHAT CAUSES NOSE CONSTRUCTION?

Nasal congestion can be caused by anything that irritates or inflames the tissues of the nose. Infections such as the common cold, flu or sinusitis, allergies are common causes of nasal congestion and runny nose. Sometimes congestion can be caused by irritants such as tobacco smoke and car exhaust.

Less commonly, nasal congestion can be caused by a tumor, so nasal congestion should be evaluated with a thorough examination by an otolaryngologist.

Potential causes of nasal congestion include:

  • sinus infection

  • Alcohol

  • Allergy

  • common cold

  • Overuse of decongestant sprays

  • Nasal cartilage and bone curvature

  • dry air

  • adenoid

  • Do not consume spicy food

  • Foreign name in the nose

  • Hormonal causes

  • Flu

  • Certain medications for depression, blood pressure, or epilepsy

  • Meat growth on the nose

  • Asthma

  • Pregnancy

  • Stress

  • Tobacco use

  • thyroid disorders

HOW TO TREAT NOSE CONSTRUCTION?

Treatment; nasal obstruction is planned individually after evaluation with anamnesis and examination.

Depending on the cause of nasal congestion, cortisone nasal sprays, allergy pills, antibiotics, nasal irrigation can be applied. Surgical treatment is preferred in cases where the complaints do not go away with medical treatment and there are anatomical disorders.
