What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health profession that provides the removal of subluxations in musculoskeletal structures, especially the spine, with special techniques applied manually.

Chiropractors apply a controlled, sudden force to the spine using their hands or assistive devices. The primary goal is to correct musculoskeletal misalignments (subluxations), thereby relieving nerve compressions, reducing pain and improving the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

A subluxation is a dysfunction in a misaligned joint or segment in which physiological and biomechanical integrity and function are altered, reducing or altering information passing through nerve roots, interfering with the flow of information between the brain and the rest of the body.

Vertebral subluxation reduces the body’s ability to heal itself. Subluxation can occur as a result of repeated physical stresses or a physical accident, but often the result of today’s lifestyles: excessive stress, malnutrition, lack or excess of physical exercise.

The effects of subluxation include headaches, jaw pain, chest pain, back pain, lack of concentration, sleep disturbances, low immune system, and even problems in the knees and feet. It is also very important in terms of maintaining the health of the whole body.

The chiropractor detects subluxations and makes specific adjustments to the joint, often with specific adjustments made with their hands, without going beyond the physiological range of motion. Adjustment returns the spine to its original position, removes friction that causes joint wear and degeneration, and restores neurological flow and vitality.
