Unknown facts about eyelid aesthetics

Since the eyelids are the areas that are always visible on the face of the person, the changes in this area attract attention at an early time. Changes in this area may be age-related, as well as depending on the person’s lifestyle, hormonal changes, lack of sleep, sun exposure and structural factors.

The most common pathology in the lower eyelid is bagging. In advanced ages, this bagging is accompanied by loosening of the eyelid skin. It is the outward shift of the fat around the eye that makes this bagging on the lower eyelid. In the treatment, this fat mass is partially shaved or used to fill the pitting around the eyes, and the excess skin can be removed by measuring.

In the upper eyelid, the most common disorder is sagging skin on the upper eyelid and fat bagging, although not as much as in the lower eyelid. The causes of these disorders are similar to those of the lower eyelid. Before the correction surgery is performed, the drooping that may have occurred in the eyebrow should be distinguished. Skin sagging and fat bagging are corrected by considering valve functions.

After these surgeries, bruising and swelling around the eyes are expected, in general, these changes disappear within a week. Lower and upper eyelid surgeries can be performed under local (regional) anesthesia, in which case it is sufficient to keep the patient in the hospital for a few hours. Unless there is a complication after this surgery, eye movements, visual function and tear production are not affected.

Facelift surgery is a frequently performed operation together with eyelid aesthetics, and these two operations are usually complementary to each other.
