Tummy tuck

Abdominoplasty is the general name given to the procedures performed to shape the sagging abdominal skin and the anterior abdominal wall that has lost its aesthetic appearance. While slimming is achieved in the abdomen and waist area with diet and exercise, it is often not possible to remove skin sagging and anterior abdominal wall laxity.

With tummy tuck aesthetics, it is aimed to remove some fat along with excess and saggy abdominal skin. In addition to this, tightening of the anterior abdominal wall is also performed, which helps to slim your waist and achieve a harmonious appearance with your body. With this procedure, it is also possible to get rid of stretch marks on the abdominal skin (usually under the navel).

AM I SUITABLE FOR AESTHETICS?

Abdominal aesthetics can be applied to both women and men. Sagging of the abdominal skin can be seen especially in people who lose excess weight and in women who have given birth, where the skin elasticity is not sufficient. In these people, looseness (diastasis recti) in the anterior abdominal wall can often be seen along with excess skin. Both of these conditions can be treated with tummy tuck aesthetics.

The most important point to know about this surgery is that it is not a weight loss procedure. Likewise, liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. The common purpose of both is to correct the body contours. It is recommended that you be at your ideal weight in order to have tummy tuck surgery. Otherwise, if you are overweight, waist thinning techniques may be ineffective for you, as the fat around your abdominal organs will continue and it is not possible to intervene in the abdomen (around the organs) with this surgery. Therefore, ideally, it is recommended that your body mass index (weight / height squared) be below 25.

Another important point for you to have a tummy tuck is that you do not smoke. Smoking can impair your skin circulation. For this reason, Associate Professor Kamburoğlu does not perform tummy tuck surgery on patients who smoke. It is recommended that you quit smoking for at least 4 weeks.

In the planning of this surgery, it is very important whether or not to get pregnant again. Because pregnancy can reverse the results of this surgery. However, if there is a long period of 10 years between your surgery planning and your pregnancy planning, you can have a tummy tuck with non-permanent stitching techniques in your surgery. In this way, your pregnancy that you will realize after 10 years will not be affected in any way. However, in this case, your abdomen may return to its pre-operative state after pregnancy and the need for surgery may occur again. For this reason, if there is a short period of 1-2 years between your surgery plan and your pregnancy plan, it is recommended that you complete your pregnancy first and give birth to a healthy child, and then have this surgery.

As long as your weight remains stable, the result of the surgery is permanent. For this reason, it is very important that the result of this surgery is supported by diet and sports and that you do not gain weight. After the operation, you can return to light sports such as running within 1 month and to heavy sports such as fitness within 3 months.

Tummy tuck Aesthetics

Before the operation, you will be examined in detail by Associate Professor Haldun Kamburoğlu. As a result of this examination, you will decide together on the most suitable abdominal aesthetic technique for you. Techniques that can be applied for abdominal aesthetics are as follows:

Liposuction: Information about classical, laser-assisted or ultrasound-assisted liposuction procedures is given in the liposuction section of the aesthetic procedures tab.

Full Abdominoplasty: In this procedure, all sagging and cracked tissues under the belly button are completely removed. In addition, the slack in your anterior abdominal wall is removed from the inside, thus thinning your waist. Your tummy is stretched down and your belly button is removed at the same level as your tucked tummy skin.

Full Abdominoplasty with Liposuction: In this technique, in addition to the procedures described above, liposuction is applied simultaneously to the entire abdomen and waist area. In this way, a more refined and natural result is obtained.

Mini Abdominoplasty: This technique is suitable for patients who do not need to be operated on the tissues above the belly button. The tissues under the navel are removed, and the looseness in the anterior abdominal wall under the navel, if any, is tightened from the inside.

In all these techniques, your scars are designed to remain inside your bikini. Scars heal unnoticed most of the time, but it should not be forgotten that genetic structure, nutritional status (especially vit c.), additional diseases or some drugs also have an effect on wound healing.

HOW IS THE RECOVERY AFTER Tummy Tuck?

The hospital stay after this surgery is usually 1-2 days. Thin hoses called drains are used to prevent the collection of liquids inside. These thin hoses can also be pulled in 1-2 days on average. You can take a bath 2 days after the drains are removed. An average of 3-4 days of dressing is sufficient in most patients. The products to be used for dressing will be described to you by Dr. Kamburoğlu at your discharge.

It is normal to have some pain if tightening and waist thinning procedures were performed on the anterior abdominal wall after the surgery. This pain is relieved by special pain control machines during your stay in the hospital. When you are discharged, the drugs prescribed for you are sufficient to relieve your pain.

It is important to consider your recovery period after this surgery and to arrange your surgery according to your social and business life. Dr. Kamburoğlu’s patients can return to their social life on the 3rd day and to work in the 1st week. It is recommended that you do not gain weight after the surgery and that you start light sports such as jogging at the end of the first month.
