The aim here is to get an idea of ​​the nose shape that the patient desires. Our goal at this point is to achieve the best result in line with the patient’s wishes.

What should the patient pay attention to before rhinoplasty?

Since very sensitive procedures are performed in rhinoplasty surgeries, it is desirable to have as little bleeding as possible during the surgery. Before this surgery, you should not use drugs with blood thinners and nutritional supplements.

You can stop medications that dilute blood, such as aspirin, at least 1 week before under the supervision of a doctor.

Herbal teas such as green tea, ginger, turmeric, garlic, all products containing Omega 3, Ginseng, Gingo biloba, Vitain E, as they can increase bleeding, stay away from foods and drinks like this.

Apart from this, if you have a regular medication or a chronic disease, you should inform the surgeon who will perform the operation and the anesthesiologist who will evaluate you before the operation.

Will I feel pain during and after the surgery?

Since the operation is performed under general anesthesia, pain is not felt during the operation. Contrary to popular belief, most of the patients do not feel pain after the operation. After the operation, the patients are supported with painkillers.

How Many Hours Does the Surgery Take?

It is very difficult to determine a standard operation time for rhinoplasty surgery. The operations take an average of 3 hours, but there may be operations that last 2 hours, as well as operations that take up to 5 hours. Will There Be Bruises/Swelling After Surgery?

Swelling and bruising may vary according to the procedure to be performed and the skin structure of the person. Since there is minimal bleeding with the closed technique, there is usually no bruising. If bruising occurs, it starts to turn yellow within 1 week and becomes invisible. On the 2nd day after the operation, swelling and edema are usually at the highest level. In the majority of patients, most of the edema passes in 1 week, while a small part of the edema can last from 3 months to 1 year.

When Are Tampons and Plaster Removed? Is It A Painful Procedure?

One of the most feared issues after rhinoplasty is tampons. We put silicone perforated tampons in our patients. These tampons are not cloth tampons that stick to the inside of the nose used in old times. Silicone tampons do not stick to the nose and allow the patient to breathe because they are perforated. -We get it after 7 days. Contrary to popular belief, it is a painless procedure that takes 10-15 seconds.

Will the Nose Fall in the Future?

In the surgery performed with the closed technique, there is no risk since the cartilage connective tissue and muscle tissue are preserved. However, after rhinoplasty, there may be an increase and decrease in the tip of the nose between 2-5 mm depending on the technique applied. This is an inevitable situation with the effect of gravity. It is ensured that it remains at the desired height after the operation by making a few mm more during the operation.

When Can I Return To My Normal Life?

Generally, you can return to your normal life within 10-15 days. On the 1st day after the operation, you can take a bath with not very hot water without wetting the bandage and tampon. You can wear glasses 6-8 weeks after the operation. After 10 days, walking and jogging after 3 weeks, more heavy exercises. You can go to the sea after 3 weeks. After 7-10 days, you can travel by plane.

What should be considered after rhinoplasty surgery?

In order to protect your nose from trauma and reduce swelling after the surgery, it is recommended to raise the head as much as possible with a pillow while lying down.

Since bending forward will increase the blood pressure on the face area, such movements should be avoided for the first 3 weeks.

Heavy exercises and lifting heavy loads should not be done in the first 3 weeks.

Nose blowing should not be done for the first 3 weeks. Nasal washing should be done with the solutions given.

Trauma is one of the most important issues to be considered after rhinoplasty. Especially in the first 6 months, we must protect our nose against trauma.

Necessary medications are prescribed to prevent situations such as sneezing, but if sneezing occurs, one should not try to cover the mouth.

Should massage be done after rhinoplasty?

The cartilage and bone structures shaped during the rhinoplasty operation go through a healing process in which they fuse with the skin again during the healing process. Especially in curved noses, the muscle and connective tissues on the curved side before the surgery may try to pull the cartilage and bone tissue back to the curved side during recovery. In order to accelerate the circulation, massage applications in the form of stroking along the back of the nose and from the wings of the nose to the corners of the eyes are taught to the patient.
