Cardiac muscle: Cardiac muscle is an involuntary muscle. These muscles form the walls of the heart and create a steady, rhythmic beat that pumps blood through the body from signals from the brain. This type of muscle also produces the electrical effect that produces the contractions of the heart, but hormones and stimuli from the nervous system can also alter these effects, such as when your heart rate increases when you’re afraid.
Smooth Muscles: Smooth muscles form the outer walls of the so-called hollow organs, airways, and blood vessels. Its undulating movements aid in movements such as the delivery of food in the stomach and the outflow of urine from the bladder. Smooth muscles are involuntary muscles. However, it narrows in response to stimuli and nerve impulses.
Muscle movements occur when neurological signals create electrical interactions in muscle cells. During this electrical conduction, calcium is released into the cells, producing a brief muscle twitch. Problems with the connection between cells can lead to neuromuscular diseases.
