The knee joint consists of the kneecap, which consists of the tibia and the femur bones at the bottom and the patella in the form of a triangle on them. In order for this joint to move freely, there are ligaments and muscle structures around the joint. Ligament and muscle structures provide stabilization of the knee joint, especially the kneecap. In other words, there are some muscle groups that pass around the patella and have a great effect on our walking and movement. The most important of these is a large muscle group called the quadriceps, also known as the upper leg muscle. This muscle continues over the kneecap and attaches to the tibia, which is the lower bone. This prevents the kneecap from rubbing against the bone and dislodged during movement and unwanted movements, especially in people who are very inactive, this muscle group begins to weaken in people who sit at the desk for a long time. As a result, the kneecap does not move in its proper place and as it should, or shows a displacement outside the limits of its movement while folding the knee or opening it back without folding, as a result of this uncontrolled and irregular displacement. In the future, it causes the kneecap to shift to a much more outer place than it should be. This is a disease known as patellar dislocation in the medical language.

People with this disorder say that the kneecap moves too much, especially when folding the knees while walking, climbing the stairs or standing up from a sitting position, or also if they have climbed too many stairs or walked too much, they say that their knee is very sore, even swelling, even heat increase, affecting the quality of life of people too much. causes severe knee pain. If no precautions are taken, it will force the ligaments around the kneecap and cause ligament injuries in the future.

Another question that comes to mind is why this kneecap tends to come out. The reason for this is that the muscles in the outer group of our leg are stronger than the muscles in the inner group, and in case of weakening, the muscles in the outer group of the leg pull the kneecap out more, causing it to come out more than it should. this is the indication of knee slippage, that is patellar dislocation. slipping is inevitable, this slipping results in serious knee pain in the future.

So what should we do in the treatment of this ailment, as we said at the beginning, the biggest reason for this disease is the decrease in muscle strength, so the most important thing to do is to increase the muscle strength in these patients. There will be no deviation, any deviation, which will be in the place where it should be, and the problem will be recovered.

During the treatment, while strengthening the muscles, there will be pain. A correct exercise program must be determined during this process. Ice application and anti-inflammatory drug applications will also help us. .

It can also benefit from physical therapy in the treatment of ailments. Some electrical strengthening currents applied in physical therapy, taping techniques, ice applications are methods that can be useful to us in treatment. In addition, we must definitely tell the patient that he must do the exercise in his daily life and that the muscle strength must be preserved because the unused muscles are destined to weaken for a long time without moving for a long time. muscles that do not work are doomed to weaken or even shorten, therefore muscle strength must be strong. In addition, by stretching our muscles regularly, we do not prevent muscle shortening, which we call contracture. Because these shortenings will affect the traction pain during walking and movements, causing injuries.

Of course, these treatments may not always respond. In advanced cases, exercises and strengthening alone may not be sufficient in cases where the amount of knee slipping increases too much. In these cases, surgery can be helped. With the surgical procedure, the ligaments and tendons are shortened and the kneecap is fixed where it should be, and after the surgery it is absolutely necessary to re-establish it. muscle strengthening is necessary because the strengthened muscle does not provide stabilization again, the same problems may happen to us.
