infertility treatment

Failure to achieve pregnancy despite one year of regular intercourse is called infertility. When the woman’s age is over 35, it is useful to consider this period as six months. Healthy couples should have sexual intercourse two to three times a week to have a chance of getting pregnant.

In order to get pregnant, a healthy egg, a healthy sperm and the absence of any problems on the way they will combine are essential. There is a problem when a woman cannot get pregnant despite regular sexual intercourse. And first of all, this problem should be investigated and treated.

While investigating the cause of infertility, it is necessary to evaluate the man and the woman at the same time. Because the odds are equal for men and women. After the gynecological examination of the woman and the evaluation of the ovaries and uterus with ultrasonography, the semen analysis of the man should be performed. If there are hormone tests required in the physical examination of the woman, they are evaluated at this stage.

Because the male factor is easy, inexpensive and effortless and gives results in a short time, spermiogram is often the first requested examination. It is done after three days of sexual abstinence. Fewer in number and structural defect are the causes of infertility. In cases where there is no treatment, the only option to get pregnant is to get pregnant by in vitro fertilization.

.Female infertility tests

. Whether there is ovulation (ovulation)

. tubal factor

. Uterine – endometrial factor

Ovarian problems are responsible for 30-40% of female infertility. From the second and third days of the menstrual cycle, it is possible to follow up ovulation with ultrasound. Ovulation problems can be understood with hormone tests.

Tubal factor is responsible for 40% of female infertility. Past infections damage the tubes themselves and cause adhesions in the surrounding tissues, causing the tubes to lose their function of uniting the egg and sperm. The function of the tubes can be evaluated with uterine film (HSG) or laparoscopy. Endometriosis causes the same damage to the tubes.

For uterine (womb) disorders, it is absolutely necessary to check whether there are congenital or subsequent problems preventing pregnancy in the uterine cavity (where the pregnancy product nests and invites its development).

In the first place, the uterus is evaluated with HSG, in special cases it is necessary to evaluate it with hysteroscopy (looking into the uterus with a camera). After the reason for not getting pregnant is understood, treatment is planned to eliminate this reason.
