For example; Most of us know that drinking cola damages our teeth due to its acidic effect. So what other foods are bad for our teeth? Are we not going to consume harmful foods at all so that our teeth do not rot, or is there a way to break the harmful effect with other foods? As most of us know the harmful effects of cola, we anticipate the harmful effects of sugar, chocolate, and a diet high in carbohydrates (for example, rice, pasta, bread). So why do these foods cause more cavities? The answer is simple: Anything that can turn into acid in our mouth can cause cavities. Sometimes we can get this acid from food (cola). Sometimes, because the bacteria in our mouth love and consume glucose so much, they form the acid (Sugar, chocolate, bread and pasta) (Let’s think of this acid as their excrement)

So, should we not eat and drink the chocolate, bread and cola that most of us love? Shall we die? The answer is no. We just need to break the cycle I described above. The way to do this is mechanical cleaning, that is, brushing teeth afterwards. You are outside, you do not have a toothbrush with you or somehow you cannot brush your teeth at that moment. Drink lots of water! At that time, at least rinsing our mouth with water will reduce the formation of cavities. Because even a tiny piece of bread stuck in our mouth is sufficient for the formation of billions of bacteria. Although not as much as brushing a tooth, eliminating many of these substances with the washing effect of water will be beneficial for our oral health.

Consume fibrous foods!

Grain foods, fruits such as prunes, pears, citrus fruits or legumes such as beans and chickpeas are foods rich in fiber. Fibrous foods; Since it increases saliva secretion, it indirectly prevents decay. In saliva; Since there are bacteriostatic substances that fight bacteria, an increase in the amount of saliva will be in our favor. Likewise, caffeinated foods (such as tea, coffee) increase the susceptibility to decay as they reduce the amount of saliva and cause dryness in the mouth.

Consume cheese!

Cheese is an ideal food for PH balance in our mouth. What does this mean, the essence of the matter is that it has a balancing feature against the acid effect that causes caries. Since cheese is basic acid, when it encounters acid, it neutralizes the environment and acts as a shield that destroys the acid effect.

Do not consume ready-made fruit juices!

Everyone knows that cola is acidic, but did you know that fruit juices have a PH value of 2.5? The fact that fruit juices, which are as acidic as cola and sugary foods at the same time, are difficult to wash in the mouth, greatly increases their contribution to caries. Coke is harmful, let me have a juice or “put a juice in my kid’s lunchbox” actually brings us one step closer to bruising our teeth unknowingly.

Consume fruit!

Although most fruits are acidic, they are actually beneficial foods because they contain fiber. The vitamins they contain are beneficial for the gums, and when eaten by biting hard fruits such as apples, they create a tooth brushing effect in the mouth and especially clean the anterior dreams mechanically.
