FACE AND LIP FILLING

WHAT ARE FACIAL REGION FILLERS USED FOR?

The most common areas of use of filler injections in the face area are the treatment of deep wrinkles around the eyes and especially between the eyebrows, the treatment of sadness lines on the edge of the nose, the treatment of under-eye depressions and tear trough pits, the treatment of fine wrinkles around the mouth and marionette pits, and the treatment of lips, temples, chin, cheekbones. adding volume to areas such as Filling applications, unlike the filling applications, which are effective on wrinkles formed by mimics, are effective on wrinkles that are static, that is, when they do not mimic.

Since safe products are composed of structures that can be metabolized in the body, their duration of action is not very long. Synthetic products (containing permanent particles) have a longer effect. However, they are less preferred among physicians due to the allergies and reactions they may cause.

WHAT ARE FACE AND LIP REGION FILLERS?

There are many natural and synthetic substances used for filling purposes. These products are not used in patients with immune system problems, pregnant women and those using cortisone. The number of sessions varies according to the desired volume and tissue characteristics of the person to be applied.

Hyaluronic Acids

This group is the most commonly used and the safest group of fillers in the world. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in many tissues in the body. Although side effects such as redness, swelling or slight bruising are rare when applying this group of products, they disappear within a few days if they develop. Foreign body reactions are much less than other group fillings. Their activities are around 9-12 months on average. The products in this group can be divided into monophasic and biphasic according to their synthesis. Monophasic ones are slightly harder and tissue fusion is less than biphasic ones. Biphasic ones have better tissue fusion and give more natural and soft results. For this reason, I prefer FDA (American Food and Drug Administration) approved biphasic products for all my injections. All of this series contains local anesthetic (regional drug) for maximum comfort of the patient during application.

The effects of hyaluronic acid applications on facial depression and wrinkles are immediately visible with the application of the procedure. On the other hand, since repetitive hyaluronic acid applications will increase the skin’s natural collagen production, it also causes a permanent decrease in the number and depth of wrinkles.

Under Eye Light Filling

The light filler contains hyaluronic acid, one of the building blocks of the skin, 8 amino acids, which is a skin restructuring complex, 3 antioxidants, minerals and vitamins, and lidocaine for patient comfort. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in our body and serves to keep our skin hydration to a good level by keeping water in its deep layers. This powerful moisturizing agent begins to decline with age. Because of this, the skin dries out, weakens and wrinkles appear. These products, which make a difference with the area it works, the problems it solves and its long-term persistence, are completely natural and are obtained from a bacterium found in the human body. So it is fully compatible with the human body. Its permanence is around 12 months.

Collagen Fillers

In this group, there are usually fillers derived from bovine collagen. This group, which was popular 20 years ago, is not preferred today due to the development of hyaluronic acid technologies and the allergic reactions they may cause. For many products in this group, allergy testing is required before application.

Synthetic Fillers

The permanence of the products in this group is longer than hyaluronic acids. The most commonly used types of synthetic fillers are calcium hydroxylapatite and Poly-L-Lactic Acid.

Although the persistence of calcium hydroxylapatite is 2-3 years according to the manufacturer’s data, in practice this period is usually around 1 year. It is the state of a substance whose content is in the bone structure that can be applied to the soft tissue. Due to this structure, it is not possible to apply around the eyes or lips. It can be applied to deep tissues such as cheek, chin or cheekbone. The probability of redness, tenderness, foreign body reaction and pilling called granuloma is slightly higher than the hyaluronic acid group.

The permanence of Poly-L-Lactic Acid is around 2-3 years. Since this product, which should be applied to deep tissues, increases collagen synthesis more than other fillers, the amount required to be applied may decrease in repetitive applications. It is not possible to apply it to the lips and around the eyes. Similar to the Radiesse product, the probability of redness, tenderness, foreign body reaction and pilling called granuloma is slightly higher than the hyaluronic acid group.

HOW SHOULD THE IDEAL LIP FILLING BE?

There are some ratios for aesthetic lip. For example, in the side profile, the upper lip should stand 1-2 mm ahead of the lower lip, while the lower lip should be slightly thicker than the upper lip when viewed from the opposite side. When the filling is made, your lips should not curl with the effect of the filling while talking, and it should not be felt while kissing. After all, it should be as natural as your own texture. For this, it is essential to use appropriate techniques and materials.

HOW IS LIP FILLING MADE, WHEN DOES THE SHAPE SIT?

Lip augmentation is applied by injecting into the appropriate areas after your lip is numbed with a cream. In order to minimize the discomfort of this procedure, the self-anesthetized version of the lip filling (with lidocaine) should be preferred. It regains its shape as soon as it is made, but there may be a slight swelling for the first three days. It will be completely settled in 3-5 days. Bruising is very rare in lip augmentation procedures and is not usually seen.
