Eyelids are the first area affected by aging. Loose and wrinkled skin, bagged fat from the upper and lower eyelids gives the patient a tired, sleepless and sad expression. Having an operation on the lower and upper lids of the patient has positive effects such as a more lively look, large eyes, reduction of eyelid wrinkles, younger look, more impressive eyes. Eyelid aesthetics can be performed alone or combined with other facial operations.
Eyelid aesthetics can be done after the age of 20. However, in general, our patient group is over 40 years old.
The scar on the upper eyelid remains in the middle of the upper eyelid and the scar is not visible when the patient’s eye is open. On the lower eyelid, it happens in the lower eyelashes and no scars are formed.
If the upper eyelid is to be operated alone, it can be performed with local anaesthesia. However, if the lower and upper eyelids are to be operated together, general anesthesia is preferred.
Excess skin is removed in the operation. If there is excess fat, it is removed and the loosened membrane is repaired. In some patients, although it may seem like fat bagging, there may not be excess fat. In such patients, there may be collapses around the eyes when the adipose tissue is removed. In such patients, replacing the fat will be a more effective treatment.
Self-dissolving sutures are used after the surgery. The eyes are not closed, a thin band is put on. There may be bruising that lasts for 4-5 days. The patient is sent home 6 hours after the operation. If it is done with local anaesthesia, it is sent home after 1 hour.
The thing that worries our patients the most in eyelid surgery is the question of whether my eye will be damaged. The operation has nothing to do with the eye. There is no need to worry about these matters.
