BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX, BOTOX)

Botulinum toxin (commonly known as botox or botox) is a purified protein-based drug that reduces muscle contraction, obtained in vitro from a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. Contrary to popular belief, it is not snake venom. Its first use in medicine started in 1980 with the treatment of strabismus in the eyes. In 2002, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of botulinum toxin type A for wrinkle reduction. This treatment is currently the most preferred application in the field of non-surgical aesthetics in the world. Apart from non-surgical facial aesthetics, it is also used in many areas such as overactive bladder, excessive sweating, migraine, strabismus. Approved by the Ministry of Health in Turkey and in more than 70 countries in the world, over 2000 scientific studies have been conducted, this drug is preferred by millions of people every year.

WHERE CAN BOTOX BE APPLIED FOR WRINKLE TREATMENT PURPOSE?

The most common application areas of Botox are around the eyes (crow’s feet) and forehead. It can also be applied to the mouth and neck area in suitable patients. Since Botox (botox) is a drug, it does not have any volumizing properties. Its basic mechanism of action is to prevent wrinkles that may occur and to open wrinkles that are not very deep. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are preferred in the treatment of wrinkles that have deepened and caused breakage in the skin, which will fill under that breakage area. In other words, while botox (botox) is used in the treatment of mobile wrinkles, dermal fillers are used for fixed wrinkles and face shaping. Although their mechanism of action and application areas are completely different from each other, they are often used in combination in non-surgical aesthetic applications.

The target for botox around the eyes is the muscles called orbicularis oculi in the crow’s feet region. These muscles cause you to form wrinkles around your eye area, for example, when you go out in the sun. In forehead botox, more than one muscle is targeted.

1. Whole Face Botox Application

It is the most common botox wrinkle removal and skin rejuvenation application. By considering the face as a whole, botulinum toxin is injected into certain areas such as the forehead, around the eyes, the edge of the nose, and the upper lip, in amounts directly proportional to the muscle mass in the relevant area.

2. Forehead Botox Application

It is the botox application applied to the parallel lines in the forehead area. While aiming to remove forehead wrinkles, it is important that the natural facial expressions are not distorted and an artificial appearance is not created.

3. Brow Botox

With the botox application applied to the lines between the two eyebrows, which creates a stressed and angry appearance, this tense appearance is removed and a softer and younger expression is provided. If the lines in this area are too deep, hyaluronic acid filler application may be required together with botulinum toxin injection.

4. Crow’s Foot Botox (Eye Contour Botox)

Crow’s feet are one of the first facial areas that come to mind in botulinum toxin applications. This application applied to the area around the eyes is called crow’s feet botox. The area around the eyes is the face area that attracts the most attention in facial expressions and is the first to show signs of aging. People who will have botox application around the eyes “Will I experience a loss of facial expression/expression?” such legitimate concerns. In the right hands, the unnatural, expressionless situation called ‘Poker Face’ does not occur in botox applications, which are made by analyzing the facial expressions of the person and the muscle and skin structure in the region, on the contrary, the person gets a young, natural and wrinkle-free appearance.

5. Upper Lip Botox (Botox for Lip Lines)

With the botox touch applied to this area, these lines are blurred and the aged appearance around the mouth is removed.

6. Lip Edge Botox

We call the lines that go down by drawing a wide-angled triangle from the lip edge and deepen as we age, Marionette Lines. With botulinum toxin injection made into the muscles that pull the lip down in the lower areas of the marionette lines, the lip edge area can be rejuvenated by tilting the lip tip from the bottom up. On the other hand, the purpose of this botox is not to destroy these lines. Depending on the person’s specific situation, combined treatment with Hyaluronic Acid fillers can be applied in this area.

With neck botox applied to the platysmal band lines in the jowl and décolleté area, the appearance of wrinkles and sagging in this area is reduced. This method is also called chin aesthetics with botox. With this process, a more wrinkle-free and youthful neck-decollete appearance can be achieved.

NON-SURGERY EYEBROW LIFT (EYEBROW LIFT BOTOX)

Brow lift with botox is a frequently preferred application in patients who are not suitable for brow lift surgery and/or do not want to have surgery. Although methods such as eyebrow lifting with thread (also called thread aesthetics, eyebrow lifting with thread) for non-surgical eyebrow lifting have been popular in recent years, such methods with uncertain reliability and permanence are not applied to our patients in our clinic. Brow lift botox is a reliable non-surgical aesthetic application with proven effects and results.

The fact that the outer 1/3 of the eyebrows are in a slightly upturned form gives the person a rested and lively appearance. This appearance, which can be obtained with forehead or crow’s feet aesthetic surgeries, can be achieved with brow lift botox in patients who do not prefer surgery for various reasons or who are not suitable for surgery. This technique also reduces the prominence of slight excesses on the upper eyelid. For patients with advanced eyelid excess, brow lift botox alone will not perform the desired function, and blepharoplasty (eyelid aesthetic surgery) will be required for these patients.
