Botox Applications (Facial Aesthetics and Excessive Sweating)

Botulinum toxin (BTX) is a protein-structured neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It has been used as a medicine since the 1980s. It is approved by the US FDA and our Ministry of Health. It restricts the activity of facial and neck muscles for aesthetic purposes, prevents the formation of wrinkles, and raises the eyebrows. An additional effect in BTX application is the relief of migraine pain, this effect occurs 5 days after the application. When applied to the muscles that cause a depressed appearance by pulling the corners of the mouth down, the expression of the mouth changes and the existing depressed image is eliminated. In addition, in mild facial paralysis, facial symmetry can be achieved by selectively applying it to the intact side muscles.

Before applying Botox, a careful examination of the facial muscles of the patient should be done. The strength and function of the muscles vary according to the person, and there may be differences between the right and left sides even in the same patient. In accordance with the findings, the doses of botox to be applied to the muscles should be adjusted. These dose adjustments are also referred to as microbotox. In this way, we can provide a natural and symmetrical facial expression where wrinkles are removed. If the patient does not use blood thinners and herbal products (such as green tea) before applying Botox, the possibility of bruising will decrease. Mild and temporary redness may occur at the application sites, which can be covered with make-up after application. The person continues his daily activities. Botox application can be done from the age of 20. Botox for protective purposes can be applied without waiting for the appearance of wrinkles, especially in people with very active and strong mimic muscles. Since the skin will break in these people before they reach the age of 30, signs of aging appear at an early age. In people with normal muscle structure, if Botox is applied before the skin breaks (they are seen when it is still), wrinkles are removed and breakages are prevented. This can be easily decided by the examination of the patient. After the botox application at older ages, the filling process helps to improve the skin breakouts as well as to remove wrinkles. Thus, a youthful vision will be completed. The effect of Botox appears in an average of 10 days. The patient’s control examination is also 10-12. day is done. The resulting effect lasts for 4-6 months and then begins to decrease gradually. In subsequent applications, as the muscles will weaken gradually, both the duration of action will be prolonged and the muscles will lose their initial strength. Thus, the person can maintain his wrinkle-free appearance for a long time.

Regional excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) People with complaints experience serious problems both in their private and business lives. With BTX application, excessive sweating in the armpits and palms can be prevented. Botox effectively blocks nerve transmission, denervates sweat glands with regional inhibition. The application is done in approximately 15 minutes after the application of local anesthetic cream. Afterwards, the person can continue with his daily activities.
