Apical Resection

Infections due to caries or trauma may cause cyst formation at the root tip in the future. In such cases, only root canal treatment is not enough to clear this infection that progresses to the bone.

After root canal treatment for problematic teeth, the root tip is opened with a surgical operation and the cyst is cleaned together with the infected bone tissue. It is a treatment option that prolongs the life of the teeth, especially in anterior group teeth.

After the treatment, the patient can easily use this tooth for many years without any problems.

Tooth Abscess

It is the advanced state of untreated dental pulp inflammations. The infection, which progresses from the pulp to the bone, makes its way to the root tip and reaches the gingiva by spreading within the bone.

There may be pain that starts spontaneously or increases during chewing in the tooth that causes the abscess.

Before the abscess occurs, it causes mild swelling, pain and sensitivity in that area. The most important factor in the formation of abscess is the patient’s delay in treatment. Swelling may occur in the face, neck and lymph nodes. In the treatment of abscess, the abscess should be drained first.

Following this, root canal treatment or tooth extraction can be performed. It is absolutely necessary to use antibiotics to prevent systemic diseases. However, medication should not be taken without consulting a doctor.

Alveolitis Bone Inflammation

What is alveolitis?

It is a discomfort characterized by pain that occurs within 2-3 days after tooth extraction. The most important reason is that the extraction socket remains empty due to insufficient blood supply in the extraction area.

They are most commonly seen after the extraction of the lower wisdom teeth.

One of the most important reasons is smoking after shooting.

Cleaning the blood clot in the extraction cavity by the patient causes the bone to be exposed in that area.

How is Alveolitis Treatment?

That area is cleaned by the physician and the patient is given antibiotics and painkillers.

What can be done to prevent alveolitis?

Mouth should not be rinsed with water after extraction.

Post-Surgical Recommendations

Things to consider after surgical operations in dentistry;

Pain may be felt on the first day of the operation. Apart from aspirin, you can take a pain reliever recommended by your doctor. Repeated doses can be taken every 6 hours.

After the operation, it should not be spit out and the mouth should not be rinsed with water. Since spitting and rinsing the mouth with water will remove the clot that will form at the wound site, it causes the bleeding to start again and the risk of infection to occur.

On the first day, soft and liquid foods should be fed.

Nothing should be eaten for 2 hours after the operation. Drinks should be lukewarm.

After gingival surgeries, a protective paste is placed on the wound surface. In order for this paste not to fall, care should be taken to eat soft things and to keep that area clean.

In the first 24 hours after the operation, ice should be applied to the affected area from the outside.
