Anxiety is Like a Glass of Water

Imagine holding a glass of water in your hand. If you hold the glass for a minute you shouldn’t have a problem. If you hold the glass for an hour, you will start to feel a pain in your arm. If you hold the glass for a day, your arm will go numb and tingle. The weight of the glass will not change, but the longer you hold it, the heavier it will begin to feel. Stress and worries in life are like a glass of water. It won’t hurt if you think about them for a while. When you think about them a little too much, they will start to hurt and numb you, and when you think about them incessantly, you will be unable to do anything.

There may be events or people in your life that you believe you cannot cope with. First of all, remember that the box you shut yourself in has a lid. All your troubles will one day become insignificant. The important thing is not how quickly you reach the lid of the box, but how you evaluate the time you spend on the road. If you wear yourself out on this path, when your problems are no longer as important as they used to be, what you will be left with will be the damage you have done to yourself. You do not have to be alone while struggling with your troubles, you did not create any difficulties on your own. Recognize that there are people around you who value you and never hesitate to ask for support. Remember that you can lift large loads more easily if there are those who support you.

So what should you do to get rid of anxiety and stress?

Do not hesitate to seek professional support when needed. Take time for yourself and remind yourself how valuable you are. When you put your head on the pillow at the end of the day, you will be alone with yourself and remember that you are the one who will overcome all difficulties.

Create a safe space for yourself. Close your eyes and find your most peaceful place. Imagine that place in all its details. Where are you, is there someone with you, is it hot, is it daytime, what are you wearing, what smells do you smell? Answer all these questions. Focus on how you feel after you have visualized your place in all its details. Memorize the place where you find peace and serenity.

Whenever you feel anxious or need relaxation, take a few minutes to yourself and go to the safe place you have created in your mind. You will find peace there and you will feel better.

We wish you to carry the atmosphere of peace to every moment of your life and to maintain it for the rest of your life.
